Dear ISD Secondary School Families,
Welcome to the 2018-2019 school year!
As the Secondary School Principal at ISD, I care deeply about the future of our students, as well the path that ISD provides to have all students succeed. Student success can be defined in a number of different ways. For me however, the best schools encourage students to follow their interests and facilitate engagement in the academic process. Engagement is about more than attending classes and activities. It is about giving each student the opportunity to participate meaningfully in her or his education .
ISD is a busy place. We are very proud of the professionalism of our teachers and, consequently, the responsiveness of our students. We additionally take great pride the results that our students have received within our IB Program as well as the outstanding university placements that ISD graduates have been awarded. I would encourage you to visit ISD in order to talk to Mrs. Blackmer, our Secondary School Counselor and College Placement Officer, to learn more about the number of globally prestigious universities that our graduates are attending. You can then begin the college planning process with Mrs. Blackmer. Why do our students do so well after high school? We like to think that it is, in part, due to the fact that they have been involved in a program that is structured to meet the needs of each and every individual student. We are always striving for improvement however, and welcome your suggestions and feedback.
My commitment to you for the 2018-2019 school year is that your student will gain more confidence in his or her journey towards the future and that the opportunity to access meaningful and challenging work will be enriching. These commitments lie at the center of our Mission Statement and ESLRS.
I look forward to a wonderfully productive academic year.
James ''Jim'' S. Anderson, Ed.D
