At ISD, we use the WIDA MODEL to assess students’ English language proficiency who are in grades 1-10.  Students who are non-native English speakers and have not yet met proficiency scores, take the test in the fall and in the spring to measure their language proficiency and growth. There are four domains that are assessed: speaking, listening, reading, and writing. The assessment results provide teachers with specific information and helps inform teachers’ instruction and ability to differentiate lessons in ways that meet students’ needs.
ISD使用WIDA模型在线测试来衡量1-10年级学生的英语语言掌握情况。所有非英语母语学生以及英语语言水平尚未达到熟练程度的学生,分别在秋季和春季参加该测试,以衡量他们的语言水平以及成长情况。该测试分别从口语、听力、阅读和写作等四个方面衡量学生的英语语言水平。WIDA 测试结果为老师提供了学生英语能力的具体信息,帮助老师调整教学策略以满足学生的多样化需求。
ISD에서는 WIDA MODEL을 사용하여 1-10학년 학생의 영어 능력을 평가합니다. 영어가 모국어가 아니고 아직 영어 능력 점수를 충족하지 못한 학생들은 가을과 봄에 시험을 통해 언어 능력과 성장을 측정합니다. : 말하기, 듣기, 읽기, 쓰기의 네가지 영역으로 평가됩니다. 평가 결과는 교사에게 구체적인 정보를 제공하고 학생의 필요에 따라, 수업을 차별화할 수 있도록 교사의 지시와 능력을 사용하는데 도움이 됩니다.

WIDA Test, supported by the Wisconsin Center for Education Research (WCER) at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, is a research-based assessment to measure language proficiency. It is trusted by 41 U.S. states, territories and federal agencies, as well as approximately 500 international schools throughout the world. WIDA Test not only measures the English language proficiency of ELL students, but also their English language proficiency in specific subjects, which supports students in English language learning as well as academic success.

WIDA测试是一项以研究为基础的语言水平测试,它由威斯康星大学麦迪逊分校教育研究中心(WCER)所支持研发。目前,美国41个州、地区和联邦机构,以及全球约500所国际学校正在使用WIDA测试。WIDA测试不仅可以衡量非英语母语学生的英语能力,还测量学生在学科方面的英语语言能力,以帮助学生不仅仅学好英语,而且用英语学好其他学科。

위스콘신-매디슨 대학의 WCER (Wisconsin Center for Education Research)에서 지원하는 WIDA 테스트는 언어 능력을 측정하기 위한 연구 기반 평가입니다. 미국 41개 주, 준주 및 연방 기관과 전 세계적으로 약 500개 국제 학교의 신뢰를 받고 있습니다. WIDA 시험은 ELL 학생의 영어 능력뿐만 아니라 특정 과목의 영어 능력을 측정하여 학생들의 영어 학습 및 학업 성공을 지원합니다.

Based on years of research, WIDA has established a set of English language development standards for students at different grade levels, and these standards represent students’ language proficiency in listening, speaking, reading, writing and language use in a more accurate way. In each year at ISD, our ELL team use WIDA Test to measure their English language proficiency, identify language skills in each domain and gauge students’ progress in each semester.

WIDA经过多年的研究发展出一套系统的针对不同年级水平学生的英语发展标准,因此其测试结果可以更加准准确地反映出学生的英语听、说、读、写和语言使用的水平。ISD的ELL教学团队每年都会为学生们进行WIDA测试,获取其英语语言水平的信息,分析学生的专项语言能力,并跟踪学生在每个学期英语能力的发展和进步情况。

수년간의 연구를 기반으로 WIDA는 다양한 학년 수준의 학생들을 위한 일련의 영어 개발 표준을 수립했으며 이러한 표준은 듣기, 말하기, 읽기, 쓰기 및 언어 사용에 대한 학생들의 언어 능력을 보다 정확한 방식으로 나타냅니다. 매년 ISD에서 우리 ELL 팀은 WIDA 테스트를 사용하여 영어 능력을 측정하고 각 영역의 언어 능력을 확인하며 매 학기 학생의 진척도를 측정합니다.

Most students also take the WIDA MODEL Screener in the admissions process at ISD. This test gives an approximation of a student’s proficiency level before they are enrolled to the school and is one of the factors used to gauge whether a student can adapted to the English medium instruction and whether they need ELL supports.

The WIDA MODEL will assign a score according to WIDA levels between 1-6. This score will determine what a student can do independently with English. For example, a score of 5-5.9 means the Bridging level. Students performing at this level of English language proficiency know and use social English and academic English at grade-level. At ISD, students exit the ELL program at an Overall Score of 5, when they are considered as proficient in English as a grade-level peer.

大多数学生在入学阶段参加WIDA选拔考试测试。这个测试帮助老师在学生入学前对他们的语言掌握水平有大致了解,同时也为衡量学生是否能适应全英教学以及是否需要语言支持提供参考。

WIDA模型在线测试将根据WIDA评分机制在1-6分内进行评分。分数可以衡量学生独立使用英语语言的熟练程度。例如,5-5.9的分数代表跨越水平。英语语言能力处于这个阶段的学生在掌握和使用社交英语以及学术英语方面已经达到年级水平。在ISD,如果学生的WIDA综合分数达到5分,即英语语言能力处于年级平均水平时,他们将不再需要ELL语言支持。

Through determining a student’s strengths and weaknesses in speaking, listening, reading, and writing, teachers are able to create an individualized English learning program. With our successful ELL programs, ISD students are showing tremendous English level improvement of WIDA levels. Over our testing in 2022 we have had over 60 students, about 40% of our ELL students, performing at level 5 of English language proficiency.
老师通过测试精准识别学生在口语、听力、阅读和写作方面的优势,以及有待提高的方面,为学生制定个性化的英语学习计划。目前,ISD学生在非英语母语学习者教学项目的支持下,WIDA测试结果取得显著提升。在我校2022年的测试中,已经有超过60位ELL学生测试分数达到5分的熟练水平,约占所有ELL学生的40%。
말하기, 듣기, 읽기, 쓰기에서 학생의 강점과 약점을 파악함으로써 교사는 개별화된 영어 학습 프로그램을 만들 수 있습니다. 성공적인 ELL 프로그램을 통해 ISD 학생들은 WIDA 에서 엄청난 영어 수준 향상을 보여주고 있습니다. 2022년 시험에서 ELL 학생의 약 40%인 60명이 넘는 학생이 영어 능력 수준 5를 달성했습니다.

Based on the Instructional design and assessment tools offered by WIDA, ISD teachers adjust teaching strategies based on students’ performance and to develop instruction to meet students’ different needs. ISD will continue to provide professional educational resources and learning support for our students, and helps students achieve continuous progress in language learning and academic level with personalized language support!
