Spotlight | Our Students Engaged in Diplomatic Dialogue at MUN

Our students from the Secondary School attended the U2NESCO conference in Guangzhou and the SCIMUN in Shenzhen. Students from Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Dongguan, Nanjing and Xiamen gathered to engage in discussions on domestic and international hot-button issues, playing the roles of diplomats representing various countries or political entities in academic simulations of the Model United Nations (MUN) and other multilateral institutions.

ISD中学部的学生分别参加了在广州举行的U2NESCO会议和在深圳举行的SCIMUN华南国际模拟联合国。来自广州、深圳、东莞、南京、厦门等城市的学生通过学术模拟联合国会议和其他多边机构，扮演不同国家或政治实体的外交官员，就国内和国际热点问题展开会议讨论。

중등부 학생들이 광저우에서 열린 U2NESCO 회의와 선전에서 열린 SCIMUN에 참석했습니다. 광저우, 선전, 둥관, 난징, 샤먼의 학생들이 모여 모의유엔 및 기타 다자기구의 학술 시뮬레이션에서 다양한 국가 또는 정치 단체를 대표하는 외교관 역할을 맡아 국내외 핫이슈에 대한 토론에 참여했습니다.

The theme of the SCIMUN was “Confronting Humanity,” where students were invited to explore the intricacy of human nature in its relationship with the challenges our world faces today, in hopes of finding the right path towards peace, equality, and prosperity. Our students embodied delegates from various countries within United Nations committees such as the World Health Organization, United Nations Development Programme, and the United Nations Economic and Social Council. Under the guidance of the conference chairs, they delivered speeches, engaged in debates and negotiations, and fostered resolution drafting and voting to drive solutions for international issues.

今年SCIMUN的主题是Confronting Humanity（直面人性），与会学生代表探讨人性的复杂性与当今世界面临的挑战之间的关系，希望找到通往和平、平等和繁荣的正确道路。我们的学生化身为世界卫生组织、联合国开发计划署和联合国经济及社会理事会等联合国机构的各国代表，在会议主席团的主持下，通过演讲阐述观点，进行辩论和磋商，以沟通协作、制定决议草案并进行投票表决来推动国际问题的解决。

SCIMUN의 주제는 ‘인류와 마주하기’로, 학생들은 평화, 평등, 번영을 향한 올바른 길을 찾기 위해 오늘날 세계가 직면한 도전과 인간 본성의 복잡한 관계를 탐구하도록 초대받았습니다. 우리 학생들은 세계보건기구, 유엔개발계획, 유엔경제사회이사회와 같은 유엔 위원회 내 다양한 국가의 대표를 구현했습니다. 이들은 회의 의장의 지도 아래 연설을 하고, 토론과 협상에 참여하며, 결의안 초안 작성과 투표를 통해 국제 문제에 대한 해결책을 도출하는 능력을 키웠습니다.

Although the Model United Nations lasted only a few days, our students dedicated extensive time to preparing for the conferences. The school provided comprehensive support and training prior to the conferences, including the Model United Nations club as an ASA program. The preparation process involved integrating knowledge from multiple disciplines, as students, closely linked political, economic, historical, and geographical knowledge with the issues to be discussed in the conferences. Through the simulations of United Nations conferences, the teachers helped students gained a thorough understanding of geopolitical topics, debate strategies, and conference procedures, etc.

虽然模拟联合国会议只持续了短短数天，但是我们的学生为模拟联合国会议做了长时间的准备。学校在会议之前为学生们提供了全面的支持和培训，其中包括ASA课后活动中的模拟联合国俱乐部。学生在准备过程中涉及多学科知识的整合，需要将政治、经济、历史和地理知识与会议要讨论的话题紧密结合。老师带领学生通过模拟联合国会议的方式进行讨论和辩论，帮助他们对地缘政治话题、辩论技巧和会议程序等方面有充分的了解。

Our students’ active participation in the MUN displayed their exceptional academic and leadership skills, and their concern for global issues. MUN is a microcosm of the broad development platform offered by ISD to our students. The school will continue to provide more opportunities for students to develop their leadership, teamwork, and public speaking skills while also increasing their international mindedness and cross-cultural communication skills.

ISD学生在模拟联合国会议中的积极参与不仅展示了他们在学术和领导能力方面的杰出表现，同时也彰显了他们对全球问题的关注。模拟联合国活动是ISD为学生提供的多元发展平台的缩影。学校将继续为学生提供更多机会，培养他们的领导能力、团队合作和公共演讲技巧，以提高他们的国际思维和跨文化交流能力。

모의 유엔에 적극적으로 참여한 학생들의 뛰어난 학업 및 리더십 능력과 글로벌 이슈에 대한 관심을 엿볼 수 있었습니다. 모의 유엔은 ISD가 학생들에게 제공하는 광범위한 개발 플랫폼의 축소판입니다. 학교는 앞으로도 학생들이 리더십, 팀워크, 대중 연설 능력을 개발하는 동시에 국제적 마인드와 문화 간 의사소통 능력을 향상시킬 수 있는 더 많은 기회를 제공할 것입니다.
