Moment | A Week Learning Without Walls

Classes are never confined to the classroom. Our students are encouraged to leave the classroom and experience the world, gaining a deeper understanding and making meaningful connections with their environment. Students in grades 6-10 took part in the Week Without Walls (WWW) program, which provided valuable learning opportunities and cultural experiences in several locations.

课堂从不局限于教室，ISD鼓励学生走出课室，以体验学习者的眼光去深入认识世界，与周围的世界建立联系。6-10年级的学生们参加了无墙周（WWW）活动，他们分别前往不同目的地进行研学，收获丰富的学习机会和文化体验。

수업은 결코 교실에 국한되지 않습니다. 학생들은 교실을 벗어나 학습자로서 세상을 경험하고, 주변 환경을 더 깊이 이해하고 의미 있는 관계를 맺도록 권장됩니다. 6~10학년 학생들은 여러 곳에서 귀중한 학습 기회와 문화 체험을 제공하는 WWW (Week Without Walls) 프로그램에 참여했습니다.

Our Grade 7-10 students traveled to Inner Mongolia, where they saw huge grasslands and abundant natural scenery. In this gorgeous site, they immersed themselves in nomadic culture, watching wrestling competitions, enjoying stunning Mongolian dances, Khoomei (throat singing), Morin Khuur (horse-headed violin) performances, classic folk songs, and a scrumptious whole lamb feast. They also took turns participating in three traditional Northeast Chinese activities: paper cutting, sugar gourd, and Yangko dance.

内蒙古之行将7至10年级学生们带入了广袤的草原和富饶的自然景观。在这个令人叹为观止的地方，学生们亲身体验了牧民文化，观看摔跤比赛、欣赏精彩的蒙古舞蹈、呼麦（喉歌）、莫林库尔（马头琴）表演和经典民歌、品尝丰盛的全羊宴，还轮流体验了三项东北特色活动：剪纸、做糖葫芦、扭秧歌。

7-8학년 학생들은 내몽골로 여행을 떠나 광활한 초원과 풍요로운 자연 경관을 경험했습니다.이 아름다운 곳에서 학생들은 레슬링 대회를 관람하고, 멋진 몽골 춤과 쿠메이(목청 노래), 모린쿠르(말머리 바이올린) 공연, 고전 민요, 맛있는 통 양고기 만찬을 즐기며 유목 문화에 흠뻑 빠져들었습니다. 또한 종이 자르기, 박 터트리기, 양코 댄스 등 세 가지 동북 중국 전통 활동에 번갈아 가며 참여했습니다.

In the Daxinganling Khan Hanma National Nature Reserve, the students were assigned as scientists and conducted fieldwork. They visited a wide wetland area to observe and collect data, sample specimens, and take measurements. Guided by researchers, they set video traps in the forest to capture wildlife activity away from human sight, allowing them to acquire a better knowledge of their survival status and behavioral patterns.

在大兴安岭汗马国家级自然保护区，学生们化身科学家，进行实地研究。他们深入一大片冰冻湿地，亲自观察和收集数据，采集样品并进行测量。在研究人员的指导下，他们还在森林中安装摄像机，记录下人类视野外野生动物的活动，以近距离了解它们的生存状态和行为习性。

다싱안링 칸 한마 국립자연보호구에서 학생들은 과학자 역할을 맡아 현장 조사를 진행했습니다. 학생들은 넓은 습지 지역을 방문하여 관찰하고 데이터를 수집하고 표본을 채취하고 측정했습니다. 연구원의 안내에 따라 숲에 비디오 트랩을 설치하여 사람의 시야에서 벗어난 야생동물의 활동을 촬영함으로써 그들의 생존 상태와 행동 패턴에 대한 더 나은 지식을 습득할 수 있었습니다.

They also conducted water quality studies, collecting and analyzing samples from the reserve’s water sources. Such outdoor research allowed them to delve deeply into the natural world using scientific methodologies, thereby improving their grasp of environmental conservation and biodiversity studies.

此外，他们还在保护区内进行了水质分析，取样并检测水源的质量。这样的实地研究使他们有机会通过科学方法深度探索自然环境，增进对环境保护和生物多样性研究的认识。

또한 보호구역의 수원에서 샘플을 채취하고 분석하는 수질 연구도 수행했습니다. 이러한 야외 연구를 통해 학생들은 과학적 방법론을 사용하여 자연 세계를 깊이 탐구함으로써 환경 보존과 생물 다양성 연구에 대한 이해도를 높일 수 있었습니다.

In these short six days, we have experienced a lot, from learning about the Mongolian language and customs to visiting the Ewenki people, and from conducting field investigations to building shelters… Each project has left a deep impression on me. My favorite activity during this trip was using the infrared camera to observe and capture footage of animals. We learned about the numerous species that live in the protected region, as well as how to use the infrared camera.

在这短短的6天，我们经历了很多，从了解蒙古语言和习俗，到拜访鄂温克族，再从实地考察，以及制造庇护所……每一项项目都让我印象深刻。我最喜欢的活动就是在红外摄像头查看拍摄到的动物。我们不但了解到生活在保护区的各种动物，还学习了如何使用红外摄像头。

6일이라는 짧은 시간 동안 몽골의 언어와 풍습을 배우고, 에웬키족을 방문하고, 현장 조사부터 쉼터 건설까지 많은 것을 경험했습니다…. 모든 프로젝트가 저에게 깊은 인상을 남겼습니다. 이번 여행에서 제가 가장 좋아했던 활동은 적외선 카메라를 이용해 동물들을 관찰하고 영상을 촬영하는 것이었습니다. 보호 지역에 서식하는 수많은 종과 적외선 카메라 사용법에 대해 배웠습니다.

One of the events in Inner Mongolia was tasting the salty milk tea made by the locals. The milk tea had a pleasant scent and an appealing color. I was astonished to discover bits of beef jerky in the bowl of milk tea! When I took the first drink, the flavor was unusual, but the beef jerky and aromatic milk tea worked together perfectly. This trip has given me a unique experience that I have never had in the southern cities.

在内蒙古的其中一个项目是品尝当地老师煮的咸味奶茶。奶茶香味扑鼻，色泽也很诱人。令我惊讶的是这碗奶茶居然还放了牛肉干进去！当我喝下奶茶的第一口，有股奇怪的味道，但奶茶里的牛肉，与奶茶的香味融入得恰到好处。这次旅行给我带来了在南方城市中不曾有过的体验。

내몽고에서의 이벤트 중 하나는 현지인들이 직접 만든 짭짤한 밀크티를 시음하는 것이었습니다. 밀크티는 기분 좋은 향과 매력적인 색을 가지고 있었습니다. 밀크티 그릇에 육포 조각이 들어 있어서 깜짝 놀랐어요! 처음 마셨을 때는 맛이 특이했지만 육포와 향긋한 밀크티가 완벽하게 어우러졌어요. 이번 여행은 남쪽 도시에서는 경험하지 못한 독특한 경험을 선사했습니다.

I found this trip to be truly captivating and full of intrigue. It was my first time experiencing snow, and I had the joyous opportunity to immerse myself in its wonder. My favorite part of the trip was feeding the reindeer. I have always liked reindeer, so I was extremely happy to have the opportunity to see them up close.

这次研学我觉得挺有意思，我以前没有见过雪，这次玩了很多雪。这次研学我最喜欢的部分是喂驯鹿的环节，我一直挺喜欢驯鹿，这次有机会见到很开心。

이번 여행은 정말 매혹적이고 흥미진진한 여행이었어요. 눈을 경험한 것은 이번이 처음이었고, 그 경이로움에 푹 빠질 수 있는 즐거운 기회를 가졌습니다. 여행에서 가장 좋았던 부분은 순록에게 먹이를 주는 것이었어요. 평소 순록을 좋아해서 가까이서 볼 수 있는 기회가 생겨서 정말 기뻤어요.

During their tour to Cliff Haus in Qingyuan, Grade 6 students learned important outdoor survival skills such as creating fire with simple equipment and purifying water from natural sources. They also used natural resources to build shelters and learned navigation skills using a compass and a map. They built a bridge out of bamboo and rope. During the journey, they participated in a cave expedition and an orienteering course, which helped their learning by providing exhilarating and challenging experiences while also instilling a love of nature and a spirit of exploration.

还有学生在广东各城市进行了丰富多彩的周游学。他们参观观澜版画博物馆，他们探索不同类型版画的创作技巧；在北帝庙和黄浦历史博物馆感受到历史的魅力和文化的传承；参观红树林科学馆亲身体验红树林生态系统的奇妙之处；在无人机公司玩无人机足球游戏，还制作了迷你无人机；参观惠灵农场，带去学校师生捐赠的物资，帮助那里在精神或身体上有障碍的人，并与他们共同交流，一起阅读。

또한 광둥성 일대에서 풍부한 연구 기반 학습 모험을 떠난 학생들도 있었습니다. 관란 판화 박물관을 방문해 다양한 판화 기법을 탐구하고, 베이디 사원과 황푸 역사 박물관을 둘러보며 역사의 매력과 문화 보존을 체험했으며, 맹그로브 과학 박물관에서 맹그로브 생태계의 경이로움을 직접 경험하고, 드론 회사에서 드론 축구 게임을 하고 미니 드론도 만들었으며, 후링 농장을 방문해 선생님과 학생들이 기증한 물품을 가지고 농장에 거주하는 정신 및 신체 장애인을 지원하기도 했죠. 또한 그들과 함께 소통하고 독서 활동을 했습니다.

There were also students embarking on an enriching research-based learning adventure around Guangdong. They visited the Guanlan Printmaking Museum, delving into techniques of various printmaking; they explored Beidi Temple and the Huangpu History Museum, experiencing the charm of history and the preservation of culture; they had a firsthand experience of the wonders of the mangrove ecosystem at the Mangrove Science Museum; they played drone football games at a drone company and even created mini-drones; and they also visited the Huiling Farm, bringing supplies donated by our teachers and students to support the mentally and physically challenged individuals residing at the farm. They also did communication and reading activities with them.

WWW offers students unique learning experiences that differ from standard classroom learning by allowing them to interact with the real world through hands-on and service-based activities, hence providing comprehensive learning possibilities.

无墙周提供了与传统课堂学习不同的学习体验，在实践与服务的过程中与真实世界进行互动，提供了全面的学习机会。

WWW는 학생들이 실습 및 봉사 기반 활동을 통해 실제 세계와 상호작용할 수 있도록 함으로써 표준 교실 학습과는 다른 독특한 학습 경험을 제공함으로써 포괄적인 학습 가능성을 제공합니다.

In addition to WWW, summer break also is a fantastic opportunity for children to participate in a range of extracurricular activities that allow them to grow and learn outside of the classroom. We encourage students to follow their interests when it comes to summer activities, allowing them to actively immerse themselves in a dynamic and enjoyable environment while expanding their talents, learning, and growing. Here are some recommended summer activities:

除了无墙周活动，暑假也是一个让学生们参与丰富多彩的课外活动的绝佳机会，在课堂之外收获成长。我们鼓励学生们将自己的兴趣作为参与暑假活动的导向，在一个有趣而鼓舞的环境中积极投入自己的热情，发展自己的技能，在体验中获得乐趣、学习和成长。以下是我们推荐的暑期活动课程选择：

WWW 외에도 여름방학은 아이들이 교실 밖에서 성장하고 배울 수 있는 다양한 과외 활동에 참여할 수 있는 환상적인 기회입니다. 저희는 학생들이 자신의 흥미를 따라 여름방학 활동에 참여하여 역동적이고 즐거운 환경에서 적극적으로 몰입하면서 재능을 펼치고, 배우고, 성장할 수 있도록 권장합니다. 다음은 몇 가지 추천 여름 활동입니다:

• Academic summer programs – These academic programs focus a student’s time and efforts on an academic area of interest. The focus can be broad (STEM) or narrow. These programs allow students to delve into their academic interests while also developing analytical, problem-solving, and innovative skills.
• 学术暑期课程：这些课程将学生的时间和精力集中在他们感兴趣的学术领域。课程内容可以涵盖广泛的领域，如STEM等，也可以专注于某个特定的学科。通过这些课程，学生们将有机会深入了解他们所热衷的学术领域，并发展他们的分析、解决问题和创新能力。

• Academic Research Programs – These programs focus a student’s interests on a very narrow area of research. The highlight of these programs comes from the interaction students have with their supervising professors as well as exposure to university-level research. Students often can publish their research and occasionally get a letter of recommendation from their supervisor.
• 学术研究课程：这些课程旨在培养学生对特定研究领域的兴趣。学生将与指导教授进行互动，并接触到大学水平的研究。学生有机会发表自己的研究成果，并获得导师的推荐信。

• Summer Camps– Summer camps are a way for students to interact with peers from a variety of backgrounds. The focus of these programs is on personal growth. Summer camps include a wide range of activities that cover many aspects of learning and experience, such as leadership, teamwork, soft skill development, outdoor activities, language acquisition, and more.
• 夏令营：夏令营活动提供学生与来自不同背景的同伴交流的机会，旨在促进个人成长和全面发展。夏令营的活动内容丰富多样，涵盖了多个方面的学习和体验，培养学生领导力、团队协作、软技能习得、户外活动、语言习得等。
• 여름 캠프– 여름 캠프는 학생들이 다양한 배경을 가진 또래 학생들과 교류할 수 있는 기회입니다. 이 프로그램의 초점은 개인의 성장에 맞춰져 있습니다. 여름 캠프에는 리더십, 팀워크, 소프트 스킬 개발, 야외 활동, 언어 습득 등 학습과 경험의 여러 측면을 포괄하는 다양한 활동이 포함됩니다.

By participating in the WWW program and extracurricular summer programs, students gain practical experience and develop a keen sense of observation in the real world. This exposure expands their understanding of the world and its intricacies. They bring these valuable experiences back to the classroom, enabling them to connect theoretical learning with real-world. As a result, their understanding and application of knowledge improve, creating a more inspiring and dynamic learning environment.
