From G6 to G10 courses are designed to meet ISD’s educational philosophy that it is necessary to master one’s mother tongue to learn foreign languages effectively. Teaching students their mother tongue and thus helping them learn other foreign languages is the purpose of this course. By providing Korean language education for the students, we help them understand their national identity and also to develop in other academic areas.
六年级至十年级的韩语课程设计与ISD的教学理念相契合,注重掌握好母语才能更有效地学习外语。我们通过教授学生学好母语,从而帮助他们学习其他外语是本课程的目的。学校开设这门课程向韩国学生提供韩语教学,培养他们的民族认同感,同时在其他学科领域取得进步。
In order to make this course effective, we teach the technique of reading and analyzing pre-selected literary works suitable for their grade level. The aim of this class is to understand the plots of classical and contemporary literature, to read between the lines of literature, and to improve understanding of the works overall. Through the means of many works of Korean literature, they will also learn about Korean culture, which cannot be separated from the Korean language. They will read many translated works of world and classical literature as well. Each semester, students are given reading and writing assignments. This course uses the common core state standards (CCSS) as a foundation.
为了帮助学生更有效地掌握韩语学习,我们在韩语课堂教授学生阅读技巧,以及赏析符合他们年级学段的预选文学作品。该课程帮助学生了解古典以及当代文学作品的情节,在阅读作品的字里行间,提升对作品整体理解与认知。学生在韩语学习的过程中,也能够了解韩国文化。学生还会接触到世界文学与经典文学作品。在每个学期,学生都会开展相应阅读和写作学习任务。这门课程我们是以北美共同核心标准作为教学大纲。
The Korean language course has a 50:50 curriculum that includes not only literature but also non-literature. Non-literature includes various genres such as advertisements, blogs, cartoons, infographics, movies, interviews, photos, broadcasts, reports, textbooks, etc. So, while learning and studying these various genres, they naturally learn and enjoy culture.

The IB Diploma Korean Language and Literature course develops understanding of the techniques involved in literary criticism and promotes the ability to form independent literary judgments. In Korean Language and Literature, the formal analysis of texts and wide coverage of a variety of literature—both in the language of the subject and in translated texts from other cultural domains—is combined with a study of the way literary conventions shape responses to texts.
IB文凭课程中的韩国语言与文学课程培养学生文学作品批判性理解的技巧,并提高对作品独立的鉴赏能力。在韩国语言和文学课程中,学生学习对正式文本以及各类文学作品进行分析,同时学习传统文学形式是如何在文本中呈现。
The course is organized into four parts, each focused on a group of literary works. Together, the four parts of the course add up to a comprehensive exploration of language and literature from a variety of cultures, genres and periods. Students learn to appreciate the artistry of literature and non-literature, and develop the ability to reflect critically on their reading, presenting literary analysis powerfully through both oral and written communication.
