The Earth Day’s theme this year is ”Planet vs. Plastics.” The school organized Earth Week to convey the significance of environmental conservation to students, encouraging them to reflect on global environmental challenges and engage in practical measures to address them for a sustainable planet.

During the challenges, students had to search for items under obstacles and bring them back to their teams. Subsequently, they engaged in discussions regarding the sustainability of these items. They also engaged in a garbage sorting task, categorizing various items and depositing them into designated containers, fostering a sense of environmental awareness towards garbage sorting. To express their commitment to environmental protection, students collaborated in team chalk painting activities. Lastly, they participated in a tug-of-war competition, where they creatively repurposed recycled clothes to increase resistance, highlighting the concept of sustainable development.

Teachers further integrated the environmental theme into their teaching by creating a display booth featuring everyday items such as combs, straws, cutlery, hair ties, handkerchiefs, and storage bags. These items were categorized into single-use plastics and recyclable materials. Students went to the booth, learned about the impact of these items on the preservation of our planet, and shared their thoughts. This teaching approach sparked children’s interest in environmental conservation and made them realize that their individual actions can indeed make a meaningful contribution to the environment.

In addition to learning about environmental concepts, our students took practical actions to demonstrate their commitment to environmental initiatives. The younger children expressed their thoughts on environmental conservation through artwork, exemplifying their imaginative thinking and individual perspectives on environmental issues. Students also brought recyclable items such as clothing and bottles to school, contributing to the collective effort of recycling and reducing waste.
